Speaking Up Together: A Practical Anti-racism Workshop
In our session last December, we explored why it’s so important to give children the vocabulary to understand and talk about racism. Without the right vocabulary, children may generalise painful experiences as “bullying” or “people being mean,” without recognising the larger systems behind those experiences. As parents, the examples we set matter. When children see us speaking up and creating change, they learn that they can do the same.

That’s why we’re excited to welcome Jillian Emanuels (De Instant Pedagoog) back for a hands-on, interactive workshop focused on anti-racist parenting.

During this session, parents will:
• Gain practical insights into anti-racist parenting
• Learn how to start age-appropriate conversations about racism at home
• Practice real-life conversation scenarios together
• Reflect, listen, and share experiences in a supportive space

Jillian brings deep expertise in anti-racist parenting and offers practical guidance for families with children of all ages. Together, we can help raise children who feel empowered to recognise injustice, speak up, and support one another.
Special Guest:
Jillian Emanuels, ‘De Instant Pedagoog’, helps parents and educators with everyday challenges and conversations about racism. With a background in education and youth support, I offer practical tools through training sessions and my platform ‘;Antiracistischopvoeden.nl’. I aim to empower parents and educators to raise children who are confident in their identity and who have the courage to stand up against injustice in a world where racism is still present. This starts with us too, and I’m here to help you think through it.
